About Us
We started Ashford Technology Group because we kept seeing the same thing happen: AI companies would raise money, build real technology, and then shut down. That never made sense to us.
Our Thesis
The AI boom created thousands of companies. Billions of dollars flowed into the space. Founders built real products, trained real models, signed real customers.
But most startups fail. That's not a criticism—it's just math. And when AI startups fail, something unusual happens: the assets often have real, lasting value, even if the business didn't work. A machine learning model that took two years to train doesn't become worthless because the company ran out of money. A customer base paying for an AI product doesn't stop being valuable because the founder burned out.
But in most cases, when a startup shuts down, these assets just disappear. The code sits in a private repo. The customers churn to competitors. The IP reverts to whoever has the best lawyer. Value is destroyed, not transferred.
We think there's a better way. Ashford Technology Group exists to capture value that would otherwise be lost. We buy AI companies that are winding down, intellectual property from founders who don't know what else to do with it, customer contracts that are about to expire, and technology that works but never found its market. We believe that good technology deserves a second chance, even if the first company didn't work out.
How We Find Deals
We don't wait for deals to come to us. Ashford Technology Group uses proprietary technology to identify acquisition opportunities before they hit the market. Our system monitors signals across the AI ecosystem: funding gaps, team departures, product shutdowns, domain expirations, and dozens of other indicators.
When we reach out, it's because our system flagged an opportunity. We've already done preliminary research. We're not fishing—we're making a specific bet that there's value to be captured. If you received an email from us, this is why.
Our Team
Ashford Technology Group is led by a small team of operators and technologists with backgrounds in engineering, technology, and investing. We've built companies. We've sold companies. We've been through the startup grind and we understand what founders go through. That perspective shapes how we approach every deal.
